Did you know? Construction site toilets are a legal requirement under UK law
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) requires that all construction sites provide adequate welfare facilities including toilets. The requirement is one toilet per 7 workers on a standard 40-hour week. Failure to comply can result in improvement notices, prohibition notices and significant fines. Loo Managed ensures every hire meets full HSE compliance.

Common questions
Construction site toilet hire FAQs
How quickly can you deliver to our site?
In most cases we can arrange next day delivery. If you call us before 2pm we will often be able to arrange same day delivery depending on your location. For larger welfare units or multiple units, please allow 2–3 days to ensure we get the right equipment to you.
What are the legal requirements for site toilets?
Under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and HSE guidance, all construction sites must provide adequate toilet facilities. The requirement is a minimum of one toilet per 7 workers on a standard 40-hour week. Sites must also provide separate facilities where practicable when both male and female workers are present. Our team will ensure your hire meets all requirements.
How often are the units serviced?
Standard construction site hires include weekly servicing. This covers emptying the waste tank, cleaning and disinfecting the unit inside and out, and restocking toilet paper and hand sanitiser. If your site has particularly high usage, we can arrange more frequent servicing — just let us know.
What if my project runs longer than planned?
No problem at all — construction projects almost always run longer than expected. Simply call us and we'll extend your hire. There are no penalties for extending, and we'll simply continue servicing on the same schedule.
Do I need a welfare unit or will standard portables do?
For small domestic builds with fewer than 8 workers, standard portable toilets are usually sufficient. For larger sites, or any site lasting more than a few weeks, a welfare unit providing hot water, a rest area and drying facilities is strongly recommended — and in many cases required. Our team will advise on the right solution for your specific site and workforce.
Can you supply units to hard-to-access sites?
Yes — we deal with difficult access sites regularly. Our suppliers have a range of delivery vehicles suited to different access conditions. When you enquire, let us know about any access restrictions and we'll make sure the right vehicle and equipment is arranged.
