What's included
Everything your site needs in one unit
A welfare unit combines all the facilities your workers need into one self-contained cabin — delivered to your site and serviced throughout your project.
Toilet facilities
Flushing toilet with mains-connected or self-contained waste system. Hot and cold handwashing facilities. Paper and soap provided. Regular waste removal and cleaning included as standard.
Canteen & rest area
Seating area for the number of workers. Microwave and kettle. Running hot and cold water at a sink. Somewhere for workers to take breaks, eat lunch and warm up — essential for productivity and welfare compliance.
Drying room
Heated drying area for wet weather clothing and PPE. Essential on any UK construction site — workers who can dry their clothes stay warmer, healthier and more productive. Also helps meet CDM welfare requirements.
Legal requirements
When do you need a welfare unit?
The CDM Regulations 2015 set out clear requirements for construction site welfare. A full welfare unit is required when:
01
Projects lasting more than 30 days with more than 20 workers simultaneously
These projects must be notified to the HSE and full welfare provision is mandatory.
02
Projects exceeding 500 person-days
Even if shorter in duration, high worker density projects require full welfare facilities.
03
Any site where hot food and drinks cannot be obtained nearby
If workers cannot access food and drink facilities, a canteen area must be provided on site.

Not sure what you need? Tell us about your project and we'll advise on the correct welfare provision.

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
What sizes of welfare unit do you supply?
Welfare units come in various sizes — from compact towable units for smaller sites to large static cabins for major projects. The right size depends on your workforce numbers. We'll recommend the right unit based on your site details.
Do welfare units need mains connections?
Self-contained welfare units have their own water and waste storage — no mains connections needed. Larger or longer-term installations can be connected to mains water and drainage if available, which reduces servicing frequency and running costs.
How often do welfare units need servicing?
Self-contained units require weekly servicing as standard — waste tanks emptied, fresh water restocked, toilets and canteen area cleaned. Mains-connected units require less frequent waste servicing but still benefit from regular cleaning visits.
Can you supply multiple units for a large site?
Yes — for larger projects requiring multiple welfare units or a combination of welfare units and additional portable toilets, we can put together a bespoke package. Just tell us your workforce size and project duration.
How quickly can you deliver?
For standard welfare units we can usually arrange next day delivery. For larger or more complex welfare setups, please allow 2–3 working days to ensure we get the right equipment and carry out a proper installation.
